Virtualization Management Gap
In a discussion with SIOS, Michelle Bailey at IDC said, “There are big, big concerns on how data center managers are going to cope. The thing I worry about the most with virtualization is the management consequences.”
“There’s no way to manage this with the processes and tools in place today.” In fact, Bailey is so worried that she thinks this “virtualization management gap” shown above might stall the virtualization market itself as users search for management solutions. “I’m worried that customers may have gone too far and may have to dial it back,” she said. “The challenge in the server virtualization world is that people aren’t used to spending a lot of money on systems management tools.” There needs to be more cost effective virtualized management solutions for enterprises.
