Demand Media Taps Eyespot Video Platform to Power ExpertVillage.com, Cracked.com and eHow.com

Deployment Includes Eyespot’s Video Hosting, Publishing and Editing Applications Across Fast-Growing Websites

Eyespot (www.eyespotnetwork.com) today announced that it will provide video hosting and interactive tools to several online media properties owned by Demand Media (www.demandmedia.com), the leading social media company. The initial rollout includes www.ExpertVillage.com, the largest online collection of knowledge videos; www.Cracked.com, the popular humor website; and www.eHow.com, the world’s largest “how-to” website.

“At Demand Media, we develop niche websites into leading online destinations by engaging users with targeted content and community tools,” said Richard Rosenblatt, co-founder, CEO and chairman of Demand Media. “Video is an essential component for our audiences and Eyespot makes video easy to use and share — increasing user engagement.”

Demand Media’s network of wholly owned websites and proprietary social media and content platform currently supports more than 65 million unique visitors per month (Google Analytics) and includes leading entertainment, knowledge, game, and sports-related destinations. The initial roll-out of Eyespot’s video publishing and monetization technologies is the starting point for a range of partnership opportunities.

Eyespot’s Video Platform includes:

-- Video hosting, video streaming, video moderation, and video editing
tools, delivered in a software-as-a-service model that can be up and
running in a matter of hours
-- Applications that let consumers upload videos and view and share
content online and via mobile, all from a publisher's own Website
-- The ability to manage, combine, and distribute both professional and
    user-generated content
-- A library of more than 1,000,000 rights-cleared videos, music and
    photos
-- In-stream video advertising from leading networks including Google
AdSense for Video, Tremor Media, Adap.tv, YuMe, and others
-- The option to leverage the Eyespot network for content syndication for
    added reach and visibility
-- Free (ad-supported) or low-cost monthly subscription offerings

“Demand Media has quickly built a portfolio of top-performing sites, many of which incorporate video as a key element,” said Jim Kaskade, president & CEO of Eyespot. “Video presents a critical challenge to growing brands, because while it drives loyalty and impressions, it can also become expensive and unwieldy to maintain and monetize. By making scalable video infrastructure easy and affordable, and by providing tools that encourage users to personalize and share content, Eyespot offers a clear path to realizing the most compelling online revenue opportunity.”
